Description

The Yoichi distillery is the older of Nikka’s two distilleries and was built in 1934 in the northern town of Hokkaido, the site was chosen by Nikka founder Masataka Taketsuru because of the similar environmental conditions to the Islay region of Scotland. Yoichi single malts are known for their pleasant peaty notes and smokiness originating from the traditional direct coal-fired distillation as well as a briny hint delivered by the sea breeze during the aging process.
The 2000s is a blend of malt whiskies distilled at Yoichi between 2000 and 2009, a limited release 500ml bottling at 57% abv.

Tasting Notes

Apples, rosewater, butterscotch, oak, vanilla, mint, campfire ashes, honey
