Double distilled in pot stills, this High Ester Rum Reunion Savanna has a high ester content of 499.9 grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol. Its aromatic palette is impressive from start to finish. The serenity with which it reveals its fruity, floral, spicy and lemony character and the way in which it draws heavily on the world of white spirits (apricot and raspberry brandy) are highlights of the tasting.
The deep initial nose is characterized by cane sugar. It then becomes honeyed, floral (orchid), fruity (clementine), spicy and mentholated. The luscious attack is filled with sugarcane. NOSE:
Ample, deep. On the initial nose, sugar is released from freshly pressed cane. Honey fragrances, heady florals (geranium, orchid), citrus fruit (lime, clementine), spices (pepper, cinnamon) and mint spread through the aromatic palette. Increasingly heady (iris butter, tuberose), the nose unfolds with remarkable fruity freshness (apricot, raspberry brandy).
TASTE:
Rich, luscious. The monumental attack wastes no time taking hold of the taste buds. Sugar cane is at the heart of the flavour palette. Gradually, it extends its sugary (molasses), fruity (blackcurrant, bramble), floral (lavender, vetiver), peppery and lemony branches all around the palate. The fibrous end of the palate is also rich (liquorice and violet sweets, rum baba).
OVERALL:
Long, silky. Closely connected to the end of the palate, the start of the finish returns to the apricot notes of the nose. Indeed, every flavour and aroma is reviewed. With incredible richness, the retronasal olfaction is characterized by artichoke heart, almond milk and cinnamon. The refreshing empty glass is fruity (raspberry, strawberry, lichee), floral (lilac, geranium) and almost vanilla.
